Mutual Aid Units Assigned: At Scene Units- Brattleboro, and Swanzey Fire Depts.

Covering Fire Units: Chesterfield, Spofford, Swanzey and Walpole Fire Departments

Type Occupancy: Single Family Residential

Type of Construction: Wood frame 1 ½ story with full basement.

Building Owner: Private- Mr. & Mrs. Ronald Dunn Sr. Owner/Occupant

Injuries Reported: None Reported

Summary of incident: Fire units were dispatched for a fire alarm activation with occupant reporting a possible fire in the basement. The first arriving fire unit (Car 3) reported light smoke showing form the front and fire showing from the Delta Side basement window. The shift commander requested a 2nd alarm on arrival for additional resources.
The initial crews were assigned to deploy fire attack hand lines to the basement (E1 and L2) while (L1) was assigned to search the building to confirm all had exited. Crews in the basement were able to extinguish the visible fire within five minutes however worked for the next hour to make sure the fire that had extended to the house foundation sill and exterior wall was extinguished. Crews assigned to search also confirmed all occupants had exited safely.
Additional arriving crews were assigned to assist with fire overhaul and safety tasks. Keene Police and Southwest NH Fire Mutual Aid Dispatch assisted on scene.
Injuries Reported: None

Estimated Property Loss: Fire loss estimated at $40,000. The home is not currently habitable due to damage to structure and utilities and plumbing.
