The City of Keene Public Works Department will be replacing sewer mains on Blossom Street and Ridgewood Avenue this summer/fall. The sewer replacement is schedule to begin on Monday, August 3, 2020, and will last for about six months. The work will occur on Blossom Street between Arch Street and Ridgewood Avenue, and on Ridgewood Avenue between Blossom Street and Andover Street. The reconstruction project consists of the following:
- Replacement of existing sewer mains
- Replacement of sewer laterals up to the property line
- Repaving portions of roadway within the limit of work.
The existing 88 year old sewer main on Blossom Street will be replaced with a larger pipe to reduce ongoing sewer overflow and maintenance problems. This sewer replacement project includes individual sewer connections. Because the project will remove and replace a portion of the sewer pipes serving individual sewer connections, there will also be some temporary, short-term sewer service interruptions. The City will provide affected residents with a notice in advance for any planned disruption.
During this work, Blossom Street and Ridgewood Avenue will be closed to through traffic. Occasionally, it will be necessary to fully close the roadway and detour motorists around the work area. In addition, some noise and dust should be expected during work hours.
Please be patient with us as we complete these important improvements to our utility network. Although the work area will be properly marked and barricaded, drivers and pedestrians should use extra caution when they are near open excavations or construction equipment.
