Roxbury Street Flood Improvement Project Begins

The Roxbury Street Flood Improvements Project begins on Tuesday, June 1, 2021. Work will start at the bridge over Beaver Brook, and continue west to Central Square. The contract duration is four months, with completion anticipated in late September.

The project is broken in three phases to minimize potential impacts, phase one will extend from Beaver Brook to just east of Roxbury Plaza. Beginning on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 on-street parking is prohibited in this area of Roxbury Street by Special Regulation. Alternate parking is available on Roxbury Plaza and in the Wells Street garage. Phase two is expected to begin the first week of July.

Additional press releases will communicate milestones when reached, as well as information about safely navigating the project areas. Due to intermittent road closures, travelers should avoid the work area between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM on weekdays. However, businesses remain open and accessible. We encourage those living and working in the area to observe construction signage, use the posted detour routes, and follow the direction of flag personnel.
