Stories to Go

Stories to Go is a service of the Keene Public Library that provides youth librarians in your classroom or child care center or Storytelling Kits, which are loaned to teachers, parents, and caregivers.  These kits contain a selection of materials for young children organized around a theme, checked out together in a bag for your convenience. The kits are funded by the Endowment Fund of the Trustees of the Keene Public Library.

Most Storytelling Kits include:

  • A selection of picture books on a theme.
  • CDs or DVDs relating to the theme.
  • A Flannel Board story to share.
  • A puppet or other toy.
  • A resource folder containing the following: a list of the materials included in the Storytelling Kit and a list of games and activities that relate to the theme, including rhymes and finger plays.

Each kit circulates for four weeks and may be renewed if there are no outstanding holds. Kits can be reserved through the online catalog or by calling the library's Youth Department at (603) 757-1856.

As part of Stories To Go, a Keene Public Library Youth Librarian may be available to visit your day care center or school.  Please call the Youth Department at (603) 757-1856 to schedule a Stories to Go visit.
