We are all very excited about the facility improvements taking place this year. Not only will we have expanded meeting rooms, a maker space, and a new West Street entrance, but the entire library will be re-carpeted and the Youth Department office will be enlarged. With additional employees, interns, and volunteers, we've been cramped for space and are very excited to have the construction begin.
You may have noticed that during the last few weeks, we have been closing areas of the Youth Department on a rotating basis. We have created a temporary department in the Faulkner Gallery, Trustees Room, the Green Room, and the Price Room. These areas are all on the West Street side on the second floor of the old mansion. There are stairs near adult AV and an elevator by the nearly new fiction next to the checkout desk.
The time has come that we will need to close the entire Youth Department. Over the next few days we will be moving the rest of our operations to the second floor of the mansion. We will continue to search and pull individual titles for patrons so please if there is an item that you want, let us know and we'll do our best to get it for you.
Our summer reading program and events will continue as scheduled.
As work progresses, additional areas of the library will need to be closed to the public as well.
Note these important dates (dates may change so please call for verification):
July 10: The Youth Department will close.
July 23: The Adult and YA collection will close. Some books will be moved to the Reading Rooms and to the second floor of the mansion.
