The Mission of the City of Keene Fire Department is to provide levels of excellence in emergency, prevention, education and community services to minimize loss of life and property damage due to fire, hazardous materials, medical and other emergencies in an efficient, professional and fiscally responsible manner.

KFD operates out of two fire stations, Central Station located on Vernon St. and Station Two located on Hastings Ave in West Keene.

The City of Keene Fire Departments provides Fire Suppression, Fire Prevention/Inspection, Emergency Medical Service, Technical Rescue Response, and Hazardous Material Response to the City of Keene and surrounding communities through the Southwestern New Hampshire District Fire Mutual Aid System. The department also provides fire prevention and inspection services along with several public education programs related to fire and EMS safety.
We operate out of two stations with a career staff of 45 uniformed personnel, 1 civilian employee and a call company that consists of 24 personnel. Our response equipment includes 2 engines, 2 ladders, 1 tanker/engine, 1 heavy rescue, 3 ALS ambulances, 1 rescue boat, 1 technical rescue trailer, 2 haz-mat trailers, 1 OHRV, 1 fire alarm bucket truck, 1 fire prevention unit and 3 command units.
We dedicate ourselves to training to provide excellence in the services we provide.
