Recycling Drop-off Center
Items that may be brought, at no charge, to the Keene Recycling Drop-off Center include the following:
- Glass food and beverage containers (no ceramics, window glass, drinking glasses or light bulbs)
- Steel Can
- Aluminum Cans
- Aluminum foil
- All shaped #1- #5, #7 plastics (no metal), #6 plastic (packing peanuts only)
- Newspapers (inserts OK)
- Mixed paper (including magazines, catalogs, junk mail, envelopes, stationary, computer paper, office paper and boxboard)
- Hardcover books
- Paper bags
- Corrugated cardboard
- Used clothing (must be clean, dry and bagged)
- Scrap metal (except appliances that contain refrigerants which require a $15 disposal fee)
- Automobile batteries
- Yard trimmings (leaves, grass clippings, pine needles)
Public Refuse Drop-Off Rates
- $2.00 per 33 gallon (or smaller) bag, up to six bags.
- $0.10 per pound for more than six bags or loose refuse
- Disposal tickets good for 20 bags or 400 pounds of refuse available for sale at the Keene Recycling Center, or City Hall
Checks and Disposal Tickets Only. 
Cash is not accepted at the Keene Recycling Center.

Brush can be brought to the Keene Recycling Center. $0.027 per pound. |

Mattresses & Boxsprings |
Inner spring mattresses & boxsprings are taken at the Transfer Station. There is a flat fee of $20.00 each for mattresses and $2.50 each for boxsprings. Futon type mattressses are handled as household refuse. |

Compost Bins |
Residents can purchase compost bins at wholesale prices at the Keene Recycling Center. Composting bins are subsidized for Keene Residents, and cost $35. Click here for photos of the bins. You can contact the Recycling Center to find out more! |

The City of Keene Recycling Center now offers electronics recycling at the Keene Recycling Center on Route 12 North. Delivery hours will be Monday through Friday 7am-3pm, Saturday 8am-1pm. State Ban on Disposal of TVs and Computer Monitors in Landfills and Incinerators. State residents should contact their local recycling center or the manufacturer of the equipment to determine the best option for recycling their monitors and televisions. Hazardous |
The Keene Recycling Center offers twenty-four collections during the year to properly dispose of household hazardous waste. |

|
|
Household |
Good quality paints, stains, cleaning and automotive products are available free of charge. By appointment or during scheduled hazardous waste collections at the Keene Recycling Center. |
|
|
|
|
Motor Oil |
Used motor oil and transmission fluid is acceptable for drop off during Household Hazardous Waste collection days. |
|
|
|
|
Tires |
Passenger car tires, $2.00 each off the rim, $5.00 on the rim, truck tires $5.50 each (price varies according to size). |
