 Emergency Medical Services Bureau

The EMS Bureau has worked throughout 2008 to maintain the state and federal mandated certifications of all personel.  We currently employ 14 Paramedics, 26 Intermediates, and 4 EMT Basics all who are cross trained in fire, rescue and haz mat.

The Keene Fire Department is currently providing Paramedic level service on all shifts. We provide ALS service to not only the City of Keene, but to 7 contract towns as well.  We run a paramedic itercept truck to an additional 11 towns for supplemental paramedic service for their ambulances.

Keene Fire Department runs 3 ambulances, 2 out of Central Stationa and 1 out of west Station. We are in the process of purchasing a new ambulance to replace our 19A3 unit in late fall.  Recently added to our inventory are the new Stryker power lift cots, EZ IO Interostious drill, CPAP machines and are in the process of updating all our LP 12s to have invasive blood Pressure, carbon dioxide, blood oxygen saturation and more.  Every front line piece of apparatus has a complete basic/Intermediate bag on it along with a LP 500 AED.

New touch book tablet computers have been added to all front line engines, truck, and ambulances. These computers have the updated Firehouse software and CAD system.

The EMS coordinator continues to monitor compliance with department infection control procedures, all department policies on emergency care and transportation.  These efforts continue to pay dividend evident in the increasing level and quality of care being provided in the field.
